PIC BY ASWADI ALIAS<\/h6>\n<p>THE famous\u00a0<em>bubur lambuk<\/em>\u00a0from Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru is set to make a return this Ramadan after a prolonged absence due to Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Excitement was clearly etched on the face of mosque treasurer Harmainshah Idris, 43, who said the mosque&#8217;s committee members could hardly wait to usher in the holy month.<\/p>\n<p>The committee members, he said, had begun preparing the ingredients for the savoury porridge as well as arranging for fresh produce to be delivered to them daily.<\/p>\n<p>Harmainshah said this year&#8217;s Ramadan would be more special compared with the last two years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Movement control restrictions meant we couldn&#8217;t gather for prayers in 2020, let alone break fast or cook &#8216;bubur lambuk&#8217; together. It was sad but we remained positive. We instead used the time to bond with our families at home.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1535527649803-0\" data-google-query-id=\"CN_PqqfL-fYCFXcAgwMdmcoJ_A\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1009103\/NST_1x1_Programmatic_0__container__\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1009103\/NST_1x1_Programmatic_0\" tabindex=\"0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" role=\"region\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1009103\/NST_1x1_Programmatic_0\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\" data-google-container-id=\"9\" data-load-complete=\"true\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;So when the government finally lifted the restrictions and allowed us to perform\u00a0<em>tarawih<\/em>\u00a0as well as continue mosque activities for Ramadan this year, we could barely contain our excitement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re so excited for this year&#8217;s Ramadan that we began our\u00a0<em>bubur lambuk<\/em>\u00a0preparation two days early,&#8221; said Harmainshah, who has been a committee member of the mosque since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>He said the mosque distributed 70,000 packets of\u00a0<em>bubur lambuk<\/em>\u00a0during Ramadan, with one pack usually enough to feed two to three people.<\/p>\n<p>He said there would be 20 people per team to prepare the porridge.<\/p>\n<p>They would start cooking at 7am and begin packing the food three hours later.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;d finish packing by noon.
